Mucho Arroz

I think that yesterday was soo exciting that the world of Lima decided to take it easy on me today.  Nothing has really happened today.  It was our last day of Spanish intensive class today, but much to our surprise our professor wasn't there in the morning.  Well, come to find out, he had to go to the emergency room this morning for severe abdominal pain.  We found out later that he has a kidney stone.  It really was unfortunate that he wasn't there for our last day of class because he was a great professor, but it's okay because we made him a card.  But other than that the class didn't really consist of anything.  In the afternoon all we had was our final exam and then we were done for the day.  So like I said..nothing exciting.

During lunch I decided that I'm already getting tired of rice or perhaps the amount of rice.  Rice is the main side dish here in Peru and it pretty much goes with everything!!  I've noticed that it takes me longer to eat because I'm trying so hard to eat all the rice I'm given.  Luckily, tonight I didn't have to force feed myself rice because there was less rice on my plate. :)  If I keep getting mounds of rice though I'm going to say something or else I will die of rice poisoning or in other words I will be "riced" to death. :)  I don't know about you, but I agree with what my grandpa used to say, "Everybody dies of something, I'd rather be caked to death."  I would take being "caked" to death over "riced" to death any day of the week and twice on Sunday. :)  More about food, I tried a new main dish of Peru tonight called Carne salteado.  It was delicious!!!!  It is hamburger, tomatos, onion, and french fries cooked together almost like a stir fry.  It was soo good!!  I'm definitely looking forward to the next time I have that!

Well, tonight my friends and I plan to go out again so I am sure you'll hear about that tomorrow.  Also, tomorrow the program is taking us to la Huaca Pucllana, which is an adobe and clay pyramid that sits right in the Miraflores district (where I live).  So watch for pictures tomorrow!!  Buenas noches!
